The Novice Thunderdome

Welcome back to the greatest sports league in the world!

This past weekend we had a SWWU first as novices battled it out by themselves to see who would come out on top. It was a great event and hopefully showed all the novices that competitions are good fun (and not that serious). From now on, all competitions will be mixed experience and novice which shouldn’t put anyone off as the experienced archers don’t bite (not at SWWUs at least).

Once again we had to hold our results outside and thankfully its not like there was a storm that day oops. It was also reported that we had less fasts called than the experienced leg which somehow doesn’t surprise me.

Without further ado, lets get into the results!

Starting with the Recurve Novice Men, we had UWEs Siddique Pathan take gold with Bristols Zhifan Zhu and Matthew Pierce securing silver and bronze. For the ladies, Bristols Chloe Wong takes home gold by defeating Vivian Gregory and Esila Keskin.

Jay Moon took home another gold for Bristol in BNM, leaving silver for Dev Vashisht and bronze for David Cole. Cardiff placed twice for the women taking gold and bronze with Pravina Appasamy and Paige Cholefko respectively leaving silver to be won by Exeter’s Isabel Chin.

Finally, Ahmet Cagkan Bay was the only Longbower (longbowist?) and therefore took the gold home for Swansea.

Thanks again to Swansea for hosting, they’ve been incredibly good hosts but now its time to look further south for our next leg at Plymouth which will be on the 15th of December! Keep an eye out for information about that soon.

Thanks again for taking the time to read this and see you next time 🙂
