SWWU archers have been busy winning silverware (and goldware…) up and down the country over the past few weeks!
Last weekend a number of archers from Exeter and Plymouth took part in Exmouth Archers’ World Archery Weekend. Notable performances included Tom Ledgerwood (Exeter), who seeded 5th in the Men’s Recurve category on Saturday before a stunning performance in the head-to-heads to take home the bronze medal. On Sunday, Tom shot a stellar 1171 to take home gold. Meanwhile, Alex Rowe (Plymouth) was hot on Tom’s heels on the Saturday, seeding 3rd, before falling to a surprise 6-0 defeat in the last 16 of the head-to-heads. Surabhi Desai (Exeter) also had a great weekend, seeding 5th on Saturday before knocking out both 1st and 4th seeds in the head-to-heads to pick up the bronze medal. Rachel Osman (Exeter) joined the fun on Sunday, picking up 3rd place in the Ladies’ Barebow category, with a score of 625.
This weekend was a scorcher, but that didn’t deter our archers, with Tom Ledgerwood (Exeter) shooting a Master Bowman score to pick up gold at the Norfolk County Outdoor Championships. Not to be outdone, Catherine Hughes (Exeter) put in her first Bowman score to take home silver.
Meanwhile, Plymouth University sent a large team to the Lizard Peninsula Bowmen’s Open Competition. They scooped up a number of medals, including Joe Tripp (1st – Men’s Recurve), Alex Rowe (3rd – Men’s Recurve), Charlie Semmens (1st – Ladies’ Longbow), Emma King (2nd – Ladies’ Longbow) and Eloise Hepburn (3rd – Ladies’ Barebow).
Congratulations to all!
