About SWWU
The South Western and Welsh Universities Archery League (SWWU) is the student archery league for Wales and the Southwest with 9 current member clubs. Over the year, the universities host legs shooting rounds ranging from Portsmouths and WA18s to Worcesters and Bray 1s. The competition is split into experienced, novice and compound teams.
The experienced team is compromised of 4 archers, the novice team made of 3 archers, the compound team made of 2 archers, and a team in each category is made of the top 3/4 archers from a given University, combining their scores to give a total score for that University.
League points are awarded at each leg depending on how each places with the team that placed first receiving maximum 9 points, the second team receiving 8 points and so on until the last team receives only 1 point. Teams that doesn’t show up receive a DNS and no points. At each leg medals are given for individual scores in each category and gender but these do not affect the overall league points.
At the end of the year, at the Outdoor Championships, the league points are tallied and the university with the most points in each competition is awarded their respective trophy which they engrave and keep for the following year!
